The Single Leg Running Man
The Single Leg Running Man is a great functional fitness exercise that uses multiple muscle groups while also improving balance!
Functional Fitness involves exercise using multiple groups verse one specific muscle group at a time. Functional Fitness exercises (programs) include practical, balance-challenging movements that prepares the body for real-life movements and activities. It trains your muscles to work together and prepares them daily tasks by simulating common movements you might do at home, work or in sports.
My Physical Therapist, Megann Schooley, recently gave me the Single Leg Running Man to add to my therapy program. TOUGH is the word that come to my mind. You use just one leg to do a running man type of motion and because you balance on that one supporting leg, your entire core will engage while you complete the motion! Watch out Clients!
