We Love Step Ups!
This is an awesome leg exercise that helps improve SYMMETRY & BALANCE which is why we implement step ups into Real Women Lift training sessions. The Step Up is a unilateral leg exercise, which means that you train each leg independently. The result is that you improve the symmetry of your legs and I am sure you could imagine, doing an exercise on one leg also improves balance. Step Up burn’s calories! I love to incorporate Step Ups as part of HIRT Training Circuit making it an excellent add on. Here is an example of one of my HIRT Sessions Using Steps Ups
1. 15 x incline dumbbell presses
2. 20 x resistance band squats step out (each leg)
3. 10 x BOSU burpees
4. 12 bent over dumbbell rows on both arms at the same time
Rest for 60 seconds.
1. 10 x Assisted pull-ups
2. 12 x Romanian deadlifts
3. 20 x Shoulder presses alternating sides using dumbbells
4. 20 x lunges (each leg)
Rest for 60 seconds
1. 12 x Assisted pull-ups
2. 15 x push-ups
3. 20 step ups while holding dumbbells
4. 8 x hanging leg raises
There are so many different variations too! Depending on your fitness level you can add dumbbells, barbells, kettlebells even medicine balls. You can start with a low six-inch step and work your way up to twelve, eighteen or even twenty-four inches. One Small STEP equal BIG REWARDS.
